Will Big Brands Change Hands as Adidas Acquires Reebok?

The New York Times reports that Adidas has agreed to acquire Reebok for $3.8 billion (U.S.). Details available here.

I invite our former Trademark Transactions students to dig between the lines to consider the impact of the proposed transaction on the trademarks inolved.

The news reports indicate this is a stock acquisition so no immediate change of ownership is required for the trademark registrations. What changes of ownership may occur down the road are unclear.
