Beanie Babies Liable For Witness Tampering in Trademark Infringement Case

The Chicago Tribune reports on a judgment against Ty Inc., the maker of BEANIE BABIES, for witness tampering in a trademark infringement case against the use of SCREENIE BEANIES by Softbelly, Inc.

District Court Jude Lefkow found that H. Ty Warner, founder of Ty, Inc., had tampered with an industry expert by persauding him not to appear at trial where he was expected to testify on Softbelly's behalf that BEANIES was generic in the toy industry.

Ty Inc. was ordered to forfeit $716,046 it had won against Softbelly in the case.
